FLUOROPOLYMER (PTFE, FEP, ECTFE)
Fluoropolymer coatings have unique ‘non-stick’ / ‘anti-stick’ properties. These properties derive from the PTFE chemical structure, which can be seen below. The shear bond strength of the Fluorine atoms to the carbon atoms makes the structure very difficult to breakdown. The Bond Displacement Energy (BDE) is as high as 544kJ/mol and this bond strength makes PTFE coatings highly chemically resistant as well as providing the phenomenal non-stick properties.
The pre-treatment of the parts prior to applying the fluoropolymer are key to ensuring optimum adhesion and desired properties are achieved.
We can offer a variety fluoropolymers and resin or binder systems that allows us to tailor the chemical resistance, temperature resistance, wear resistance and coefficient of friction properties of the coating.
