Non-Stick

Non-Stick

Non-stick coatings or low friction coatings are materials that are applied to a surface to reduce the coefficient of friction between the surface and another material. This can be done to prevent sticking, galling, or wear.

There are a number of different materials that can be used for non-stick coatings, including:

  • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE): PTFE is a synthetic fluoropolymer that is known for its non-stick properties. It is often used in cookware and other applications where sticking is a problem.
  • Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2): MoS2 is a mineral that has excellent lubricating properties. It is often used in bearings and other applications where low friction is required.

Non-stick coatings can be applied to a surface in a number of ways, including:

  • Dip coating: The part is dipped into a solution of the coating material.
  • Plating/Anodising: We have developed several anodising and plating treatments that contain PTFE embedded in the coating, producing a self-lubricating coating
  • Plasma spraying: The coating material is sprayed onto the part using a plasma torch.

Non-stick coatings are a valuable tool for reducing friction and preventing sticking. They are used in a wide variety of applications, including automotive, medical devices, and industrial equipment.
