Poeton offer a wide variety of anti-corrosion paint systems that provide protection in wet, humid, mist and salty environments. Our anti-corrosion paints can be applied to a range of substrates and are available as either barrier, inhibitor or galvanic coatings.
The right anti-corrosion system really depends on the substrate material, pre-treatment and the potential environmental conditions experienced in the final component application. We would always recommend speaking with our technical sales team for further advice on selecting the correct system for your application.

Barrier coatings
A non-porous paint layer designed to prevent the substrate material coming in contact with the electrolyte. These are often improved by adding flake or platelet material, which increase the potential pathway of the electrolyte through the coating. The down side of anti-corrosion barrier coatings is that once they are breached/damaged corrosion will form at the damage area. Therefore, they are often used in combination with a corrosion inhibiting primer.

Inhibitor coatings
These are paint coating systems which contain pigment elements that interfere with the electrolytic corrosion process, providing a level of cathodic protection. These typically include zinc flake, aluminium pigments and complex mixed-metal flake systems.

Galvanic coatings
These comprise of metal rich cathodic protection systems. Affectively, the more highly corrosion metal (zinc, aluminium, Magnesium) is used as the anode in the corrosion cell, which protects the substrate material which is made the cathode.
