Chromic Acid Anodising
Chromic Acid anodising provides a thin layer that is typically 1–2µm. It is typically used for its anti-corrosion properties and as a pre-treatment for paint systems. Chromic acid anodising excels compared to other anodising techniques when the fatigue strength of the aluminium substrate needs to be maintained.
Poeton offer this process to all major Aerospace and military specifications. However, chromic acid anodising is being phased out of use due to the REACH regulations. Poeton’s R&D department have worked extensively for many years reviewing the alternatives and we can offer both Tartaric Sulphuric Acid Anodising (TSA) or Thin Film Sulphuric (TFS) as alternatives. Please contact the technical team at Poeton for further advice on treatments that meet the latest REACH regulations.
