Silver Plating
Silver plating is an electrodeposited process that is mainly used in aerospace and defence applications as well as on electronic components. A layer of silver is typically between 10 and 25um and offers good anti-fretting and electrical conductivity properties as well as a corrosion resistant surface.
Silver plating’s resistance to oxidising gives the coating its anti-fretting properties, as the oxidising process and resulting abrasion from the debris is eliminated. It is also resistant to many organic acids and anti-tarnishing treatments can be applied to increase protection against sulphur.
