Poeton Pioneer Brand New NVQ for Apprenticeship Scheme
June 22, 2021
Apprentices at Poeton Gloucester will have the opportunity to be some of the first to undertake a brand new NVQ specific to the surface treatment industry.
The company, who are actively seeking their next intake of apprentices to begin in September, are offering the scheme in conjunction with Gloucestershire College. The new NVQ modules have been developed in a bid to provide the best possible training to those working for the surface treatment specialists, with two apprentices having completed the modules in 2020.

Darren Burge, Managing Director of Poeton Industries commented:
“Apprenticeships have always been a key part of Poeton with the first group of apprentices coming through the ranks in the early 1980s. As a business we have been able to reap the benefits of the additional skills developed through the programme and will continue to provide these opportunities in the future.”
The new, level three NVQ modules include ‘Finishing Materials by Applying Coatings by Electroless Nickel Plating’ and ‘Carrying out Thermal Spraying Activities’. These modules cover two of the company’s most advanced processes and will help the apprentices combine classroom theories with the practical requirements of applying the coatings.
Emma Shaw, Group Head of HR, added:
“It’s an exciting time to be joining Poeton as we’re busy expanding into new markets with our cutting-edge solutions. The scheme allows our apprentices to develop a thorough understanding of our industry, and as well as gaining a formal qualification, it provides a fantastic stepping stone into a career at Poeton.”
