About the role
We have an exceptional career opportunity to join Poeton in the position of Research & Development Engineer and play a key role in the creation of new coatings and process solutions. Working with the R&D Manager, you’ll develop a detailed technical understanding of all Poeton processes, whilst also collaborating on projects with customers and industry bodies.

What will you be doing?
You’ll initially begin a bespoke, two-year training programme to develop a complete understanding of our business and processes. This will include making up and maintaining plating tank solutions in the R&D facility before processing customer and sample components. You will also be involved in customer and R&D projects, assisting with initial contact to determine requirements through to the final reporting of results.
On completion of your training, your role will expand to include offering advice on coating selection to the sales team for customers applications, as well as writing and presenting complex project proposals to customers. You’ll stay atop of coating and process developments, whilst identifying and applying for funding opportunities related to new R&D projects, before managing and reporting on these projects.
Are you right for the role?
We’re looking for someone with a degree in a science or engineering related subject and has a strong ambition to develop their career. People and communication skills are key to this role as you’ll be working with colleagues at all levels across the business as well as engaging with customers on their projects.
You’ll be comfortable in handling chemicals and previous experience in surface treatment will be advantageous. As an organised self-starter, you will be capable of managing multiple projects and possess the IT skills to produce detailed and informative reports.
The role is based at our R&D centre in Gloucester, but your work will also cover our sites in Cardiff and Poland, with occasional travel to these sites required.
