Cams and tappets, cylinders and pistons, and other high speed, lubricated systems can be prone to scuffing. Options include

Hard Chrome Plate for moderate speed cylinder bores
Electrolytic Nickel/Ceramic Composite for cylinder bores in high revving engines
Nitrocarburising salt bath processing of nitriding steel for tappets or cams
Diamond-Like Carbon for high revving cams and tappets on a polished hard substrate
