Constantly Getting into Sticky Situations?

Apticote 850 is the next generation of thermal spray coatings featuring high levels of wear and corrosion resistance, dry lubricity and mould release not possible with conventional spray methods. These permanent, non-stick coatings protect sealing bars, jaws, dies and other sealing parts against abrasive wear and corrosion dramatically extending their service life.

Properties and Industrial Benefits

CASE STUDIES

Pharmaceutical Industry –
a Pharmaceutical company was experiencing problems from glue adhering to sealing bars, during the heat sealing of polythene bags. Plasmadize, an FDA compliant non-stick coating with a very high co-efficient of friction, was applied. It totally eliminated any sticking and also accelerated operating speeds.
Food Industry -
a bread baking company using Plasmadize on a Pillo-pak machine kept throwing away the part when it failed due to the ear section breaking off. The part was stripped, the ear repaired, the profile reformed and Plasmadize was re-applied. The refurbished part performed like new, at a fraction of the cost of a new one.

Apticote 850 range of coatings creates a super-hard, dry lubricated surface on heat pealing equipment parts. By eliminating the need to constantly apply and reapply “non-stick” tapes which wear out rapidly, Apticote 850 prevents plastic and other materials from adhering or bonding to the parts.

Apticote 850 can solve all those ‘sticky substance’ problems encountered in the adhesive industry. Whether it be adhesive formulating, label prints, tape manufacture or converting, this high tech, new generation coating range is custom designed to act as a release system for all types of metal parts which come into contact with adhesives. Eliminates downtime and cleaning delays and helps meet critical production schedules.

  • Wear Resistance

Provides unsurpassed wear resistance and can exhibit 10% or 15% increase in wear resistance over thermal sprayed plasma tungsten carbide coatings, and up to 30% over thermal sprayed plasma ceramic coatings.

  • Working Temperature

Apticote 850 is resistant to temperature and ideal for protecting or restoring all types of metal parts. Available as a release (non-stick) or gripping surface with an operating range of -200ºF (- 129ºC) to +1300ºF (+ 704ºC). Ideal for a wide range of food and pharmaceutical industrial applications.

  • Corrosion and Chemical Resistance

Apticote 850 coatings can exceed 6000 hours salt spray as per ASTM B-117, depending on the coating type used. Resists more acids, alkalis and organic
    solvents.

  • High Lubricity

Apticote 850 provides a highly lubricious, non-stick surface with a coefficient of friction as low as 0.06 compared to a COF of 0.22 for thermal sprayed tungsten arbide.
