| Energy efficient process makes Apticote 300 competitive against conventional Hard Anodising | 29th October 2004 |
Surface treatment specialist Poeton Industries claims that the state-of-the-art processing line it opened a year ago to meet the growing demand for its Apticote 300 coating, is so energy efficient that it is able to compete with conventional hard anodising processes for most high-quality applications.
Analysis of the line's performance in its first twelve months shows that it is producing the same coating thickness to a higher quality and at a lower operating cost. A smart processor also controls and logs every detail of every batch, providing critical data to ensure that consistent and repeatable quality is guaranteed.
Managing director Colin John says the latest advances in process technology, a new solution management system, and continuous 24-hour operation are together providing a 10% saving in energy.
"As energy is a significant cost in the process, the saving makes Apticote 300 more affordable for quality conscious customers." He says.
The high-capacity line is able to provide customers with a fast response on a wide range of high quality, low-cost, hard anodising applications. Typical properties include maximum hardness up to 500Hv, excellent wear resistance, 1800 hours ASTM B177.73 salt spray corrosion protection, high dielectric strength, improved fatigue strength and greater load bearing capacity.
