POETON CERAMIC BRAKES INSPIRE CONFIDENCE FOR FASTEST DOWNHILL TIME AT GOODWOOD
Poeton Industries Limited, a world leader in surface coating technology, sponsored Team AVD/Windcheetah in its attempt to regain the Goodwood Soapbox Challenge title at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Advanced Vehicle Design (AVD), the self-styled giant killers of Goodwood, managed the fastest downhill time in the recent Goodwood Soapbox Challenge, thanks to the confidence inspired by a unique set of ceramic coated brakes developed by Poeton Industries.
The daring feat happened during a valiant attempt by ADV managing director and driver Bob Dixon, to repeat the team's surprise Festival of Speed victory of 2001. On that occasion the cycle manufacturer from Cheshire succeeded against the technical might of works teams from Bentley, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Lotus and Porsche, and 'drivers such as Tiff Needell and Vicki Butler-Henderson.
Poeton, a leading specialist in ceramic coating technology for motorsport applications, contributed what Bob described as 'a superb set of ceramic brakes' giving him the confidence to let Windcheetah loose on a downhill charge. The ultra light-weight aluminium brakes were coated with Poeton's new Apticote Keronite 3000 ceramic to provide the correct friction levels and to protect the aluminium alloy drums from wear. And it was nearly good enough! But the big boys just kept Bob off the podium. Even so, he's promised his revenge next year!
