Barry Sheene races ahead with Apticote cylinder coating
October 2002
Poeton Industries' Aptec motorsport division has used surface coating technology developed for leading edge motorsport applications such as Formula One, to help former motorcycling world champion Barry Sheene take the chequered flag on an historic Norton Manx bike at the recent Goodwood Revival meeting - beating previous champions, including Wayne Gardner.
Commenting for Aptec, general manager Neill Ricketts says: "We are involved in many successful motorsport campaigns, but we are especially pleased to have provided a very fast turnaround for Barry's team after mechanical problems almost prevented the bike competing. We also look forward to continuing our relationship with the team."
Fred Walmsley Developments who prepared the bike used Poeton's latest Apticote Ceramic 2000 coating for the aluminium cylinders as well as carbon fibre and other innovations to help achieve its race-winning performance.
