Poeton and ICC sign joint venture for diamond like carbon coatingJune 2002

Poeton Industries managing director Anthony Poeton and Yvon Sampaur of the Innovative Coating Company (ICC) have signed an agreement for Poeton to sell the French company's Diamolith 'diamond like carbon' (DLC) coating in the UK.

The agreement between the two privately owned companies is expected to result in a joint venture production facility in the by UK 2003, followed by expansion into the US market via Poeton's MaxPower subsidiary.

Commenting on the potential, Anthony Poeton says: "The agreement gives us access to the extensive production capability and invaluable experience of one of Europe's leading producers of DLC coatings. Diamolith's 3000 Hv range and excellent lubricity will enable us to offer customers the optimum combination of hardness and low friction."

He adds that Poeton has previously offered another DLC coating but believes that Diamolith, which is produced using the plasma-assisted chemical vacuum deposition (PACVD) method, is better suited to coating high quality components with complex and varied shapes.
