MCC MORE THAN DOUBLES POETON'S INVESTMENT IN THE US MARKET
At a time when most companies are reducing investment in their home and overseas markets, Poeton Industries Limited, a world leader in surface coating technology, has launched a new business in the United States to capitalise in the UK success of its Apticote Keronite 3000 coating for magnesium.
The Magnesium Coating Corporation (MCC) will operate alongside Poeton MaxPower Inc, which is already established in the US as a leader in the field of cylinder bore ceramic coating and finishing for motorsport and other high-performance engines.
The $250,000 investment has created an Apticote Keronite 3000 processing facility that is already generating interest from automotive manufacturers for applications such as magnesium body frame parts, exhaust system heat shields and dashboard components.
Commenting on this latest phase of its US growth, group managing director Anthony Poeton says: "Our confidence in the new plant and the US market follows a $100,000 investment in 2001 in a new process line and machine tools to support the growing demands of our MaxPower engine-cylinder coating business."
He adds that MCC has also appointed Warren Lundgren, a specialist from the die-casting industry, to focus on engineering applications for Apticote Keronite 3000, which offers manufacturers significant advantages where reduced weight is crucial. The coating, which has a hardness range from 350 to 600 Hv, allows magnesium alloys to be used in 'functioning' applications in the automotive, aerospace and other industries.
