Benefits
Problems Solved
FDA Approval
Non-stick and low friction
A range of polymer coatings for non-stick and/or low friction applications. Poeton will help you specify the most suitable grade for your application
Y
Corrosion protection for Aluminium parts, with low friction
For aluminium parts requiring low friction sliding, wear resistance and corrosion protection
Y
Wear resistance and low friction
For sliding application where maximum wear resistance is required as well as low friction
N
Ultimate non-stick
Prevents sticking by the most aggressive products, including medical, adhesives and food products
Y
Toughest, hardest non-stick coating, with maximum wear resistance
For sealing and sticking problems in mass production packaging, capable of temperatures above 200°C. Also sealing bars and food vessels where high wear resistance and sticking occurs

Just a Few of the Packaging Problems Solved by Apticote Coatings

•

Preventing accumulation of adhesives, glues, packaging films and inks; all residues that can contaminate packaging equipment surfaces and lead to increased maintenance and shut down. •  Reducing friction on the surface of metal parts used in hoppers, chutes and other conveying equipment, reducing back-ups and preventing jams.
Elimination of sticking and abrasion when using PET clear food packaging with aluminium moulds
Eliminating the abrasive wear of nozzle collars, cross sealers, quench sealers, filling nozzles and side sealers, all problems that shorten the useful life of packaging machinery.
Poor lubricity and premature wear of folding plates on over-wrap machines, eliminating skewing, bubbling and machine jams

The Apticote Packaging Range

Example Case Histories

Apticote 200
A range of non-stick, low friction polymers. There is one that meets any of your needs.

Apticote 350
A range of composite anodising processes, incorporation low friction and non-stick polymers, and with enhanced corrosion protection.

Apticote 450
A unique electroless nickel- polymer composite that provides ultra low friction combined with superb wear resistance.

Apticote 460
The ultimate non-stick system, based on electroless nickel and a very advanced polymer infusion. Fully FDA approved.

Apticote 810
The toughest, hardest non-stick coating system, based on thermal spraying and polymer infusion.

Problem - Foam Rubber
A medical equipment company packages surgical sewing kits, including a bonder foam rubber lining. The rubber stuck to the brass forming dies, with resulting tears.

Solution
Coating the dies with Apticote 460 eliminated the sticking and reduced rejects to zero.

Problem - Muffins
A company baking and packaging muffins faced repeated machine stoppages whilst flight bars stopped due to sticking of the product.

Solution
Apticote food approved 810 eliminated the sticking and production schedules improved by 240%.

Problem - Medical Gauze
A healthcare company manufacturing and packaging stiffened gauze found that the product literally sawed its way through steel guides.

Solution
The ultra hard, non-stick Apticote 810 reduced the friction and eliminated the wear. Production rates increased and downtime was greatly reduced.

Problem - Carton pull seals
Aluminium pull-off tops on drink cartons present a major sticking and wear problem to the high-speed machinery that seals them to the containers.

Solution
The application of Apticote 200 and Apticote 810 coatings to the aluminium heat sealing pads that press on the sealing tape prevented wear and sticking, allowing pad life to be extended 10-fold without failures.

Problem - Bag manufacture
A Packaging manufacturer was using expensive PTFE tape to reduce sticking on the machine sealing heads.

Solution
Apticote 810 stopped all the sticking, reduced costs and eliminated the downtime that has been spent on replacing the tape.
