Environmental Policy Statement
The Directors of Poeton Industries Ltd are committed to a policy of Environmental Management throughout the company’s activities. We are therefore committed to exceeding our legal requirements by reducing emissions to the environment through improved capture techniques and by the controlled use of energy and raw materials. Responsibility by management of specific targets will be regularly reviewed, and our progress shared with the workforce to encourage complete participation.
Ensuring that these objectives are achieved, Poeton Industries will
- Maintain information on environmental issues within the workplace from outside organisations and authorities as it becomes available through legislative requirements and codes of practice, and as they relate to the company’s operations.
- Make available such information as may be necessary to all employees, to ensure their Health and Safety whilst working at the company.
- Appoint technical staff, reporting to the Managing Director, who will assist and advise management on environmental and Health & Safety aspects of the company operations.
- Reuse or recycle waste materials whenever possible, prior to disposal, and minimise the use of resources (materials, fuel and energy), thereby reducing wastage.
- Minimise all emissions and discharges (noise, gaseous, solid and liquid), ensuring compliance with all regulatory controls.
- Give consideration to the environmental effects, and a commitment to pollution prevention in all business decisions, including the purchase of materials or equipment, and the adoption of new technology/processes. Specifically, this will include the investigation of environmentally benign processes that have the potential to replace those presently relying on the use of hexavalent chromium.
- Ensure that contractors and other visitors involved with our business comply with our Health and Safety requirements, and adopt a policy of environmental management.
- Maintain effective methods of measuring environmental performance.
- Maintain procedures for the setting of objectives and targets which will be reviewed at the Senior Management Team at regular intervals.
All members of the company are required to work within the framework of this policy. In addition, the company operates a formal quality system, certified to ISO 9001:2010.
The Directors of the Company have appointed an 'Environmental Co-ordinator', and given that person full authority to carry out the environmental policy of the company. All Company personnel are required to co-operate with the Environmental Co-ordinator in carrying out this task. All new and existing personnel are made aware of the environmental policy, either during ongoing training sessions or via their Company Induction.
